Packaging Policy

As an industry we have always made a conscious effort to ensure we are doing as much as we can to reduce our use of plastic. The plastic we use for our UK soft fruit punnets is recyclable, and our packaging helps protect a delicate product, thus reducing food waste.

Our members set their own company policies for plastic packaging, but we have also come together as an industry to make three important joint objectives:

1. All packaging for berries grown on British Berry Growers’ members farms will be 100% recyclable or compostable by 2025
2. Punnets (including lids and any pads) for berries grown on British Berry Growers’ members farms will have at least 50% recycled content by the end of 2022
3. We will continue to work with our retail and packaging partners to simplify berry packaging and make it as easy to recycle as possible
